Blog News: Secrets Revealed

Alright people, have we got some news for you!

First things first, I would like to let you all know about

"PARADIME'S ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY"

This Saturday February 7th, at the one and only magic spot; STRANGELOVE. The night is already shaping up to be c-c-crazy and we don't want you to miss it. A year in review post will be forthcoming after the big night, but i know many of you can attest to the fact that PARADIME throws some bad ass jams and that there have been some insane and intense parties since we came on the scene.

next...

Family Day, Sunday February 15th

Paradime is my family and it's yours too, so lets spend Family Day eve together listening to DJ KARPF tear the turntables to shreds at LOKI LOUNGE. The complete details of the night wont be released just yet, but i can promise that PARADIME and the people at LOKI have something special in store for y'all on the long weekend Sunday, and its gonna be another one of those c-c-crazy nights i was talking about in the paragraph above. LOKI is located at 577 King st W, and has been wowing dedicated beat seekers, refined wine sippers and super scenesters with its up-tempo atmosphere, highly stylish venue and extraordinary sound system for a while now. Family Day 09 with DJ KARPF (spinning on the extraordinary sound system!) and the PARADIME kids at LOKI LOUNG will rock your socks! Stay tuned for more info.

GoodLook Entertainment

In light of recent developments in Toronto's current party scene and Paradime's evolution and position in both the nightlife and marketing industries we have decided to launch a new brand; GoodLook Entertainment. Now, I'm obviously not going to give away our marketing strategy or positioning statement right here on the blog (that would just be silly of me) but when you do come check out one of GoodLook's events you will notice a marked difference between the atmosphere and character of a GoodLook jam and a Paradime jam. Your first chance to check out what's up is this Friday at COGNAC LOUNGE for "THE HOLLYWOOD DIET", which GoodLook will be inheriting gradually from the Paradime brand starting this week.

And speaking of that nutritious treat, if you havent yet tried the "HOLLYWOOD DIET" give it about 5 hours every friday night for sick results!

Old School Track, Martin Luther King Jr Day Edition

Today is Martin Luther King Jr day so i thought it appropriate to put down an old school track that would be fitting to this special day. A day that possesses special significance not only because every year on this day we remember the things that Dr King did to advance equality and to reduce injustice, but also because this is the day before the inauguration of the first ever black president of the United States, Barack Obama. Proof, that although we have not completely fulfilled Dr King's dream, we have made great progress toward fulfilling that dream and Martin Luther King's legacy lives and will continue living until we reach the promised land that Dr King spoke so eloquently about.

A Change is Gonna Come
This track was written in 1964 by Sam Cook and was released shortly after his death in the same year. The song became an anthem and rallying cry for the 1960's civil rights movement and has remained popular and culturally significant until today.
Sadly, the original Sam Cooke version of this track has been removed from youtube due to its revived commercial and marketing value since Obama's presidential campaign.

Here is Al Green's version of the track.

Quick Posting Ability

I just wanted to quickly address something that all the members of PARADIME, a large number of our friends as well as a chunky portion of our readers have noticed:

Since we started this blog, which is still in it's infancy but has so far been exceptionally successful, thanks to y'all, a plethora of other blogs have popped up from our competition (if you want to call it that, lol). Now i know blogging isn't illegal, and it is an excellent marketing tool and a great form of free publicity... if its done well. We just thought it was kinda funny that everybody else decided to start doing it after PARADIME demonstrated just how fun reading and writing could be!

Whether its in party land, blog life, marketing mix em ups and everything else we do, PARADIME is peerless. That means we're the best.

OTHER CREWS AIN'T SEEING US WITH TELESCOPES!

Celebrity look alike of the week....

Here's the second installment to The Paradime Blog's "Celebrity look alike of the week".  I realized today that with there being only a few member's in Paradime,  and me not wanting to poke fun at someone outside of the circle and possibly catch a beat down over a blog... I'm not too sure how many weeks this will be able to go on for. But anyways this week's look alikes are : Nick Osti & bad ass Luke Perry.....

Excite Bike Without the Bike...... But Still, We Ride Hard

One more day until your weekends change permanently.

Tomorrow night we start "The Hollywood Diet"our brand new Friday night at Cognac Lounge. That, plus "Love the Bomb" Saturday nights at everybody's new favorite club, Strangelove, equals life on the edge.

Our jam at Strangelove has quickly become a College street institution, every week we spin the baddest tracks with the raddest peeps. DJ KARPF on the tables hurting your ears in a good way, bottles popping everywhere you look, and a strange sense of well being filling your heart and mind. Recently the parties have been, quite frankly, full of zeal. And this Saturday looks to be no different. We are expecting a full house, so as always arrive early and looking fresh to avoid disappointment.

moving right along....

January 9th 2009 (tomorrow evening, 10ish), is the collosal launch party to the your new "best Friday jam around". The party is gonna be off the chain, no joke, this thing has taken on a life of its own, and now "The Hollywood Diet" is eating all the other Friday club parties, and it still aint full.

Paradime will be hooking up with friends "MADRUKUS ENTERTAINMENT" as a part of tomorrow night's festivities, as well as for another very special night in the near future (we'll let you know soon).
If you havent heard, MadRukus has been doing big things for more than a minute... I encourage you to check out some of their work through facebook and on YouTube.

Here's something they did with Big Page from Caribana 08

ok guys... i just wanted to say that i love you all... if i dont make it through these sick parties that we are about to throw, i needed to tell you all that... BLOG EM UP!!!!!!!

Old school track time...

LOL, I know I used to look like Liza... I don't want to sit here and laugh at a picture and blog post that is essentially making fun of me, but those pictures do a pretty good job of shutting me up. All I'm gonna say is that Matthew Karpf should watch his back for the next little while, he's pissing alot of people off and eventually something funny is gonna happen...

Before I get into the song selection I want to recognize the crew for reaching a significant milestone: We now run two weekly parties, "The Hollywood Diet" Fridays at Cognac Lounge and "Love the Bomb" every Saturday at Strangelove, and all before our first anniversary (jam coming soon).  I think we all deserve some credit for a job well done so far, and i wanted to congratulate the rest of my team.

Finally here is "The Old School Track of the Month, Week or Whenever":

"Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" is a 1956 song by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers. It reached #3 on the Billboard charts in the USA and #1 in the UK. The track is an absolute classic and virtually everyone has heard it, appearing in a countless number of films and covered by a multitude of other artists.
The song also vaulted the popularity of young Frankie Lymon (the Howdy-Doodie lookin fellow on lead vocals), who after the popularity of this track, achieved continued success hitting the pop charts with a string of other pretty decent old school tracks. His early success and status as one of the first black teen idols prompted little Frankie to drop "The Teenagers" and to continue on as a solo performer. Unfortunately, as little Frankie grew to become regular sized Frankie his popularity began to wane, and as his voice got lower his album sales followed suit (zing!).
Sadly, the story of Frankie Lymon is not a happy, or even funny one. At the age of 15, during his time at the top of the charts, Frankie became addicted to heroin. After his career began to decline he fell deeper into his addiction and was never able to resuscitate his career. He bounced around between several short lived record contracts and rocky relationships until being drafted into the US army. After 3 years of clean living in the army, Lymon was discharged and eventually reverted back to his earlier habits. On February 27th 1967, Frankie was found dead of a heroin overdose at the age of 25.

Here Is Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers; Remembered not as the tragic caricature of the troubled pop star that Frankie Lymon became, instead as an enduring 3 or so minutes of 20th century pop culture history.

Celebrity look alike of the week....

So here it is folks.... In retaliation to Nick's embarrassing video post of myself extremely intoxicated in Tremblant, singing and dancing to Bon Jovi with my shirt off.... I am excited to bring to you the 1st installment to our weekly "Celebrity Look Alike of the Week" post. But instead of doing the obvious, and attacking Nick with a Justin Timberlake/Nick Osti look alike post (which he'd probably enjoy mind you), I've decided to leave him be for now and stir the Paradime pot a bit. For the 1st installment I've decided to put a pic of Paradime's own "Pants" next to my girl Liza Minnelli.... can we say twins?? Hope you like it Matthew. And if you don't, you can blame Nick, lol. This is just the tip of the iceberg folks.. I plan to poke fun at everyone in the Paradime crew one by one over the next few months, and boys if you dont like it.... please fight fire with fire... don't try and punch me in the face at the next meeting (cough cough, Chris).... because it will only make things worse.... Oh and one more thing people.... If you've found yourself feeling a lil stale or disappointed with your Friday nights I'd suggest "The Hollywood Diet". It's guaranteed to improve your quality of life one Friday at a time...... PEACE!!!

Ok, ok, the worst kept secret of 2009 (thus far) has been revealed.... so here is the official "Paradime Blog" introduction:

"THE HOLLYWOOD DIET" presented by PARADIME and featuring DJ KARPF, every Friday night at COGNAC LOUNGE.

Here is the 411 on the venue; Located at 2800 HWY 7 W at Jane street, COGNAC LOUNGE is a seriously swanky joint. I'm talking leather couches, big screen plasma screens, real art on the walls and stunning bartenders.... The place is class all the way.
